Johanna Kyykoski is a Finnish singer, songwriter, performer and music educator.

Ms. Kyykoski is a highly experienced singer and musician and has been working as a soloist in numerous bands and projects over the years. Having her background in musical theatre, she’s no stranger to stages, big nor small.

She’s been performing in concert halls, theatres, international festivals, corporate events and governmental social receptions as well as on national and international tv and radio. She is also an accomplished studio singer and backing vocalist.

At the moment Ms. Kyykoski is working on her new solo project. In her music, the auto-fictional lyrics combine smoothly with her soulful and deep vocals which are accompanied by modern pop sounds and fresh electronic production.

Ms. Kyykoski is an active member and co-founder in an internationally acclaimed vocal group Tuuletar. This multi-award-winning a cappella group has been dazzling the press and the audiences all over the world and has become one of the most well-known and busiest modern folk music bands in Finland. Tuuletar has been touring and performing in more than 20 countries in four continents and headlined numerous huge festivals in the UK, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, India, USA, Germany, Taiwan and many more. Tuuletar’s music has been placed on several TV-series such as HBO’s megahit Game of Thrones (season 7 DVD trailer), Wentworth (FOX), Monarca and Rain (Netflix). Tuuletar is also singing the vocal score in a Finnish movie production Tunturin tarina (Tale of the Sleeping Giant, 2021). 

Aside from her solo career and Tuuletar, Ms. Kyykoski is active in several bands such as a vocal trio The Dizzy Darlings, Pulse – The Finnish Tribute to Pink Floyd and cover band Peilikuva. She is also working as a freelance singer and doing commissioned performances as a duo with a guitarist or pianist.

Johanna Kyykoski has a deep love and desire for musical theatre where she combines her three passions: singing, acting and dancing. She’s an experienced actor and has done several roles in various stage productions on both amateur and professional level. Her most accomplished role was as Gabriella in a stage adaption of a Swedish musical film Så som i Himmelen (As it is in Heaven) in 2015 in Valkeakoski City Theatre, Finland. Ms. Kyykoski has also written the script for a hit children’s show Pohjanneito ja varastetut kultalangat that she’s been performing together with her band Tuuletar since 2016.

Ms. Kyykoski has an associate’s degree in vocal studies from Kymi Conservatory (2008) and a BA in music education and vocal pedagogy from Savonia University of Applied Sciences (2014). She did an exchange year in Royal Academy of Music in Denmark (2011-12) and has done updating-training-studies in various vocal methods such as Estill Voice Training, CVT and Roy Hart Technique. Johanna is working part-time as a voice teacher in private music schools. As a musician and educator, she is interested in using a holistic and kinaesthetic approach in learning music and this way building a profound and comprehensive foundation for overall musicianship.
